Why Early Access?

“Space Engineers 2 is a very ambitious game, and we feel that Early Access is a great opportunity to shape its future in cooperation with the community. Player feedback has always been a crucial part of the game development process for us, and Space Engineers 2 is no exception.

In the Early Access version we plan to gradually introduce massive content updates with fresh mechanics. Some of the features will be totally new to players, and their feedback will help us greatly to iterate and deliver the best experience possible. This is why we chose Early Access as the way to go, and hope you will join us on this journey.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our plan for keeping the Space Engineers 2 in Early Access is approximately three years (end of 2027).”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Just like with Space Engineers, the Early Access version of Space Engineers 2 is only the beginning. In our latest updates, we've introduced in-game UGC Workshop support with seamless Steam Workshop integration. The recent VS 1.2 also brought enhancements to various game mechanics, including jetpack improvements and the addition of Undo/Redo functionality for the paint gun, along with refined interface elements, and much more. Looking ahead, we plan to further improve and expand the game with content-rich updates and exciting new features, such as advanced modding tools via the VRAGE HUB and Editor, as well as significant improvements to the overall user experience. Next on the horizon, we’re set to introduce planets and survival, enhanced progression, and new tools for creative engineering. Volumetric water will revolutionize gameplay through engineering innovation, from crafting deep-sea submarines to designing vast water projects and pioneering ocean exploration. Beyond that, we’re working on multiplayer, NPCs and story campaign.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version is in its Alpha stage, and features Creative Mode with a 25 cm unified grid system, grid undo/redo, new blueprint building, paint tool, powerful building options like symmetry and voxel hand tools, as well as improved performance, realistic destruction, and stunning visuals. Players can use the UGC Workshop to share their creations with others, and discover new Blueprints and Worlds. Over the coming months, we’ll be rolling out updates with new features and improvements based on our roadmap and community feedback.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“It is extremely important for us to stay in touch with our players, hear their feedback, and learn about their experiences with the game.

We would like to continue a two-way communication with our players and provide them with regular updates on the game development through the Steam page, weekly dev-diary from our CEO, our monthly newsletters, and our official Discord server with team members and moderators always available for discussion. If players encounter any issues in the game, we have a dedicated tech support section on our website where they can report bugs and other technical problems, which will then be forwarded to our development team.

About Alpha

In the current Alpha version, players can dive into Creative Mode, one of the most loved features, with plenty of space to build, experiment, and bring their ideas to life right from the start. Enjoy a unified 25cm grid system with new blueprint tools like snap-to-grid, paint tool, partial copy/paste, and toolbar assignments and powerful building tools, including the voxel hand, symmetry tools, and line/plane building, along with grid undo/redo for flexibility. The advanced grid system reaches speeds of 300 m/s, with built-in safety features preventing damage under 20 m/s. Dynamic fractures and debris add realistic destruction, while a visual overhaul with ray tracing, global illumination, tessellated terrain, sleek armor edges, and improved lighting pushes the game’s visuals to a whole new level.

The newly introduced UGC Workshop on Steam lets you share your creations with players worldwide and discover exciting new Blueprints. Additionally, the latest VS 1.2 update brought enhancements to various game mechanics, including jetpack improvements, the addition of Undo/Redo functionality for the paint gun, and refined interface elements, along with much more.

And it is just the beginning. Each week, we introduce fresh blocks to the game, giving players the chance to experiment more and elevate their builds. Over the coming months, we’ll be rolling out major content updates, each adding new features and expanding the game, while focusing on improving the core elements.
